For several years, and especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, I have become increasingly concerned about education progress differences amongst students from different schools and regions. These differences traditionally resulted from variations in the circumstances that the students faced – e.g. school resource availability, classroom student:teacher ratio, and the amount of support that the students had at home.
However, student progress has only worsened during the pandemic. McKinsey & Company notes that, “While all students are suffering, those who came into the pandemic with the fewest academic opportunities are on track to exit with the greatest learning loss.”
I am fortunate to have continued my studies during the pandemic with only a modest impact. Given the challenges that many students are experiencing in their education journey, I feel that it is a great opportunity, and our duty, to help young students to get back on track and to support them. This is the reason why I created MyStudyBuddies.
MyStudyBuddies is a non-profit tutoring organization, enabling high school students to tutor and mentor students in kindergarten through 5th grade. We want to help decrease the education gap that many students are experiencing and enable them to get back on track in their studies. Our tutors are volunteer high school students from schools around the United States, who are strong in the core subjects of mathematics, science, reading, writing, and history. We welcome the opportunity to support your students through these challenging times.
